I developed this Automated Lid Placing System for a seamless integration with the Automated Pizza Kitchen. This design incorporates a cleats mechanism and a Polyurethane timing belt, ensuring the precise storage and dispensing of lids one at a time. To achieve controlled movement during the mating process with the pizza box, I implemented a sliding plate, inclined at 20 degrees where the lid would land, coupled with a spring-loaded catching mechanism. As the pizza box descends below the lip of the lid, it intuitively catches and securely transports the lid with it. The package then moves through a set of rollers that gently press the lid onto the box. This thoughtfully designed system optimizes efficiency and accuracy in lid application, enhancing the overall functionality of the Automated Pizza Kitchen.
